Our fulfillment
services known as Books Etc. is located at our plant in Seattle, Washington.
Here we help make your book available to customers through credit card
purchases. We have an 800# order line, an Internet presence, and we
provide periodic co-op mailings to bookstores and libraries. We will
attempt to place every book that participates in this program with
national distributors (Spring
Arbor/Ingram Distributors, Amazon.com, and BarnesandNoble.com. We will
automatically do this for each participating client unless otherwise requested.
As you
are contracted with Books Etc. to be your fulfillment management
company, Books Etc. will require a one-year commitment. This will allow time for you to get the
word out about the book. There are no setup fees and you receive free
warehouse space (for up to 300 books) for that first year. After one
year there is a *modest monthly fee to keep your books in the warehouse
and active in this order fulfillment system.
(*Please see the
"Costs" page for the breakdown of these modest monthly fees)
An 800#
(1-800-917-BOOK) is provided to take orders for your book. Books Etc.
takes and processes Visa and MasterCard sales.
If possible,
the 800# should be placed on the inside of your book to encourage further
orders. And it is the number you should give out whenever you are doing
any type of media interview.
All orders
are shipped within 48 hours.
Through an arrangement with Spring Arbor/Ingram Distributors your book
will be a part of the inventory and database of the largest wholesale
distributor in the U .S. This means that your book will be available
through special order to any bookstore in the country.
Your book
will be available on the Internet through an arrangement with
Amazon.com, and BarnesandNoble.com.
There will
be an annual catalog of Selah Publishing titles that will be made available
to top stores. As other marketing opportunities arise, members of this
program will be alerted. An example of this would be a co-op advertising
flyer distributed to bookstores across the country. The cost of this
flyer would be shared by all participants (see following).

Retail
Sale Service Fee -
Books Etc. charges a 30% service fee or $3.00 per order, which ever is
greater, for each net retail purchase. Retail sales are defined as purchases by
individuals whether discounted or not. This service fee covers the cost for the
service charges to credit card companies, and invoicing and processing payments.
A net sale is defined as the dollar amount of the sale reflected on the invoice,
less all taxes and assessments payable with respect to the freight, shipping,
and postage expenses. Shipping charges added to retail invoices are paid by the
customer and are retained by Books Etc.
*Bookstore example -
A $10 retail book sold at 42% discount to a bookstore yields a net sale
of $23.20 for 4 total books. We charge you $4.64 (which represents the
20% charge) out
of which we pay the marketing consultant, the phone operators, and the
personnel to operate the fulfillment warehouse. Your total revenue for
this type of sale would be $18.56 or $4.64 per book. In the event that
the net sale is less than $15.00, the fee would then be $3.00 per transaction.
*Wholesaler/Distributor
example -
A $10 retail book sold at 55% discount to a wholesaler/distributor
yields a net sale
of $18.00 for 4 total books. We charge you $3.60 (which represents the
20% charge) out of which we pay the marketing consultant, the phone operators, and the personnel to operate the fulfillment warehouse. Your total revenue
for this type of sale would be $14.40 or $3.60 per book. In the event
that the net sale is less than $15.00, the fee would then be $3.00 per
transaction.
Co-op
Marketing Fliers -
These are full-color fliers printed with several different books displayed.
These books are shown and described with full-color cover art for each
book, a book description, and ordering information. Each participating
author co-ops in the printing costs. These fliers are then used at trade
shows, book conferences, and mailed with book orders from the Books
Etc. warehouse.
*Due to
the discounts that must be given to bookstores and distributors we recommend
that you carefully consider the ramifications of participating in our
fulfillment services unless you have a large enough profit margin built
into your retail price. Your total revenue could potentially be less
than what you paid to have the book packaged and printed.

Books Etc.
does not buy your books. Books Etc. does not act as an advertising or
publicity agency. This arm of Selah Publishing is strictly a service
organization. Books Etc. operates on a consignment basis only, and there
are no promises or guarantees of the sale of your book. It is your responsibility
to prepay shipping to the Books Etc. warehouse in Seattle.
It is your
responsibility to pay the shipping to any book distributor who carries
your product.
If the
marketing department needs free copies to give to key buyers, these
will be taken from your warehouse stock and the freight will billed
to you. We suggest that you plan on providing our marketing department
with fifteen copies to start.
Books Etc.
is not able to warehouse your entire print run. We do need enough quantity
appropriate for a few months sales. Books Etc. is willing to start with
four or five cases of your books with no extra warehousing costs as
long as the total number of books does not exceed 300 copies.
